Activities for Gros Islet's 25th Anniversary as a town launched

The redevelopment of the Gros Islet waterfront and an awards ceremony recognizing those who have contributed significantly to the town of Gros Islet will be two significant activities among others, marking the 25th Anniversary of its elevation to township.

These announcements were made by Parliamentary Representative of Gros Islet, Lenard ‘Spider’ Montoute during the launching of activities on Tuesday evening.

Mr. Montoute said both residents and Gros Isleans living abroad will be recognized for their contributions.

Other activities earmarked for the occasion include pageants, an exhibition, sporting and entertainment activities.

Mr. Montoute disclosed he is also in discussions with the National Conservation Authority to develop a beach park at the southern end of Pigeon point.

He could not disclose the budget to host the event, since the committee is still in the process of finalizing plans.

Certain activities have been planned in neighboring communities, in an effort to expand the celebrations.
