The governement has stationed several police officers outside its buildings as public sector workers lead protest action to government's doors

There was a heavy police presence outside the government buildings on the Castries waterfront today as the government made good on its promise to secure the civil servants who have chosen not to join the ongoing public sector strike.

The Trade Union Federation says while its campaign has not been disrupted, the police have provided guidelines for the demonstrators to follow.

TUF President Julian Monrose says the presence of police can only serve to antagonize the protesting workers.

Mr. Monrose says picketing workers are carrying out legitimate protest action and do not wish to cause disruption.

He says the workers are trying to encourage public sector workers who have reported to work to lend support to their own cause.
