Special Sitting held for Corporal Vincent Trevor Peters

It was an atmosphere of sadness at the “D” Court this morning, as members of the legal fraternity paid tribute to their fallen colleague, Corporal Vincent Trevor Peters, who was gunned down on February 19.

Among those who attended was the Attorney General, Dr. Nicholas Frederick, resident High Court Judge, Justice Kenneth Benjamin, Director of Public Prosecutions, Victoria Charles-Clarke, President of the Bar Association, Andie George, magistrates and fellow crown prosecutors.

A common sentiment shared among all those who spoke of him was his low tolerance for criminal activity and the fearless manner in which he conducted his duties.

Director of Public Prosecution stated that this crown prosecution has received a rude awakening by this shattering incident.

Meanwhile, President of the Bar, Andie George eloquently described the professional manner in which Corporal Peters handled his work.

Her Worship Magistrate Michelle Louis said Corporal Peters never missed a day in court, except for when he attended courses.

Crown Prosecutor, Inspector Gaston vouched to continue to good work started by Corporal Peters, otherwise his death would be in vain.

This sentiment was reinforced by the words of Chief Magistrate, Florita Nicholas who explained why they should continue in the quest to rid criminals off the streets.

Corporal Peters left behind one son.

The special sitting ended with a moment of silence for the fallen officer.
