20/20 CRICKET BOWLS OFF IN MABOUYA VALLEY
Auxlyon and Rovers United recorded victories in the first round of games in the Mabouya Valley Youth and Sports Council's 20/20 cricket competition.
The first match was played On Sunday February 17th from 10: a.m. between Auxlyon and The Mabouya Valley Veterans. Veterans batted first posting 157 for 6 in their alloted 20 overs. Alton Crafton topped the scoring with 49, Donald Stanio 22 and Wint Constantine 19. Pakus Alexander took 2 wickets for 24 off 4 overs and Dale Smith (Auxlyon Captain) took 2 for 30 in his 4 overs.
Auxlyon replied with 158 for 9 in 19.4 overs. Edmund Smith topped the scoring with 33, Pakus Alexander 31 and Leon Polius contributed 23. Ulrick Bispart the best of Veteran's bowlers took 3 wickets for 12 runs in 4 overs.
In the second game from 2:00 p.m. Rovers United crushed the Mabouya Valley Under 19 by 89 runs. Rovers registered 175 all out facing their full 20 overs. Thelbert Joseph 32 and Shanda Willie 25 were the main contributors for Rovers.
Bowling for the Valley Under 19 Slyverster Tourille took 2 for 23 and Mugaran Joseph 2 for 30.
Mabouya Valley Under 19 replied with 86 runs in 15.1 overs. Randol Rhital and Wade Hippolye (national youth players) were the only batsmen to reach double figures. Rithal scored 37 off 19 balls and Wade Hippolye 11.
Bowling for Rovers Thelbert Jospeh registered his career best of 3 for 8 in 4 overs and Torie Edwin 3 for 15 in 4 overs.
