MABOUYA VALLEY 20/20 CRICKET ENDS WITH VICTORY FOR ROVERS

 

Rovers United emerged Mabouya 20/20 Champions on Sunday March 9th 2008 by defeating Auxlyon United in the finals of the Mabouya Valley Youth and Sports Cuncil's 20/20 Cricket Competition.
by 31 runs. 


A record 164 runs opening partnership between PRO team member   Johnson Charles and Kurt Francois helped Rovers post a formidable 222 for 4 in 20 overs. Charles topped the scoring with 112 runs followed by Francois with 63.


Bowling for Auxlyon PRO team bowler Loyd Clifford took 2 wickets for 24 runs  off 4 overs.
 
Auxlyon replied with 191 for 6 off 20 overs. Cyril Charles topped the scoring with 59. Edmund Smith 34 and Pakus Alexander 33. Valencious Jospeh peak of  the Rovers bowlers took 3 for 22 off 4 overs and Kirby Francis 1 for 14 off 1 over.  Rovers received $1500.00 and the First Place Trophy. Johnson Charles for his 112 received the man of the match award, he also accumulated a total 251 runs in 3 innings making him the highest scorer in the competition. Charles also received the "man of the series" award.


Randal Rithal (national youth player) and Thelbert Joseph both took a total of 9 wickets sharing the prize for most wickets.
 
Auxlyon United received $750.00 and the second place trophy. 
 
The Competition was jointly sponsored by Trophy Centre, Collins Lynch, The District Representative, Neil's and New Face Baber Shop, Felix Driving School and Terris Transport.
