MABOUYA VALLEY 20/20 CRICKET
The first round of the Mabouya Valley Youth and Sports Council's 20/20 Cricket Competition was completed over the past weekend.
Richfond Youth Organisation defeated La Perle Puma's on Friday February 22nd by 5 wickets. Pumas scored 74 all out in 15 overs, Backus Brim scored 24 and Cassius Constantine 12. Bowling for RYO Sylvester Tourille captured 4 wickets for 31 runs in 4 overs and Sylvan Edwin 3 for 24 in 3 overs. Richfond Replied with 76 for 5 in 13.2 overs with Naved John scoring 31 not out. Bowling for Pumas Anthony Edwin took 2 wickets for 12 runs in 3 overs. Sylvester Torille won the man of the match award.
On Saturday February 23rd Nius Thomas' 121 not out off 65 balls and Aventon Henry's 70 off 36 deliveries paved the way for a 207 runs victory for Survivals over Monarch. Survivals set a local record total of 260 runs for 2 wickets in 20 overs. Bowling for Monarch Kirby Gaston took 1 wicket for 35 runs. Monarch replied with a disappointing 53 runs off 9.1 overs. Marcus St Hill was the only batsman to reach double figures scoring 15 runs.
The final match in the first round was played on Sunday February 24th. Young Generations defeated arch rival Togetherness Youth by 46 runs. Shervin Charles 61, Vernon Emmanuel 49 and Clitus Mathurin 24 helped post a formidable 179 run s in 20 overs for Young Generations. Bowling for Togetherness Youth Mark Tourille took 3 for 31 in 4 overs and Jonathan Francis 2 for 32 in 3 overs. Togetherness Youth replied with 133 in 18.2 overs with Shawn Edward scoring 25 and Shane Harris 23. Randal Rithal (National Youth Player) took 6 for 34 in 4 overs for his effort he won the Man of the Match award.
