ST.LUCI'A UNDER 20 WOMENS FOOTBALLERS GET PAST USVI
ST. Lucia's national under 20 womens football team have advanced to the next stage of CFU qualifying group B action of the CFU Under 20 womens competition.ST.Lucia advanced after an 8-2 aggregate win over two legs against the USVI in matches played yesterday afternoon and Sunday afternoon in the USVI.
Sunday the ST. Lucians won 3-1 after coming from behind after the USVI had opened the scoring from the penalty spot. ST.Lucia's goalscorers on Sunday were Canadian based striker Kwanzaa Robest who also missed from the penalty spot while Zanique Celestine and Joanne Alphonse were the other goal scorers.
Yesterday afternoon ST. Lucia won 5-1 also having to come from behind after the USVI led one nil early in the encounter from a goal by Markis Taylor. The half time score was one all. ST. Lucia's goal scorers yesterday afternoon were Canadian based striker Kwanzaa Robest who scored two with one each from Joanne Alphonse, Ellisha Marquis and Crystal Joseph
ST. Lucia will now meet Trinidad and Tobago in Trinidad over Two legs on Monday October 5th and Wednesday October 7 th at Macoya to decide the group winner. Some of the ST.Lucian contingent will return home tomorrow before going to Trinidad while the rest will travel to Trinidad directly from the USVI.
