TWO CENTURIES FOR WINDWARDS BATSMAN JOHNSON CHARLES
Four centuries were scored in an exciting and high scoring draw in the Castries derby between Central and South Castries, played at Gros Islet on the weekend. Batting first South Castries rattled up 385/9 declared, after being 199 without loss at one stage. St Lucia and Windwards opening batsman Johnson Charles hit a boundary studded 145. Other good scores came from Xavier Gabriel 58, Alex Antoine 49 and Esau Gabriel 47. Chad Laurencin bagged 5/64.
In reply Central Castries put up a spirited fight in amassing 294 with centuries from captain Greg Wilson 101 and Gaspard Prosper 100. The two sharing a 142 run fourth wicket partnership. For South Castries Esau Gabriel picked up 3/17.
Batting a second time with 30 overs left in the days play, South Castries chalked up 226/4 in 16.5 overs. Johnson Charles hit his second hundred of the match, 114(13 x 6, 6x4). His hundred coming up in only in 25 balls. Mervin Charles also hit 54. Kemrol Charles bagged 4/56.
