Johannesburg: Earlier this year and towards the end of the previous year when the fatal rate in COVID-19 increased in China, many experts in Africa worried. The African experts were worried about the fact that if COVID-19 increases in Africa then saving the country would become very difficult. They mentioned that many health systems in Africa are already struggling. 

As far as the latest update has been taken the number of coronavirus cases is increasing rapidly. Out of the 54 countries in this continent at least 36 of the countries are affected in COVID -19 in Africa. Only in Southern Africa, more than 150 cases have been reported lately.  

The COVID-19 pandemic is spreading aggressively in African countries. The Nigeria Capital of Lagos closed down all the schools in the country as soon as 8 COVID-19 cases held in the world.  In the previous week, Africa banned visitors from high-risk countries, a very quickly opened up a drive-through testing center in Johannesburg. 

Regional heads and experts have already declared that if the pandemic COVID-19 spreads even more in Africa then it could destroy the healthcare system in Africa. This pandemic could also result in the lowering economic system for Africa and for the World. 

The African region head of the World Health Organization has said that most of the cases that have been spotted in Africa have been brought down by guests from Europe. He also said that there has been the least number of community transmission of this virus. They have also mentioned that there might be some unidentified infected cases in COVID-19 but that is very rare. 

Africa having close ties with China must have been more vulnerable to the COVID-19 virus than any other country in the world but things have been otherwise since the inception of the pandemic. Facts are very unclear as to what should have happened is not matching to what has happened. 

Moeti, the African head of WHO also explained that social distancing might not be possible always. It is due to the economical backwardness of the continent that many people do not have separate rooms in the family to sleep, they eat together and sleep together. Many of the houses also do not have the facility of running water inside the house. 

Experts have claimed that under this condition they are trying their best to stop the pandemic but already the continent has been hit by 30% – 35% of unemployment.
