Kolkata Police Attacked in “Red Zone’ Area of Howrah by Lockdown Breakers

A mob of the lockdown violators attacked all the policemen who were trying to enforce lockdown in the red zone area of Howrah. The policemen at Howrah who were attacked were on duty to prevent people from coming out of houses and spreading the pandemic even more. This red zone area is known as Tikiapara in Howrah, which is highly contaminated, said an official on Tuesday. 

The attack happened in the evening on Tuesday when the police had got inputs that a number of lockdown breakers have gathered in a nearby market.

When the agitated lockdown breakers were asked to go back home, the mob pelted stones on police and beat them up. They have also damaged two vehicles that the police took to the market.  The injured police personal were all taken to the hospital immediately. 

Later a large number of RAF and Police contingent were sent to Tikiapara to take control of the situation and handle the red zone area.

While on the other hand the TMC leader of Howrah and the forest minister Rajib Banerjee criticized the policemen for this incident.
