Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom TV Spots Tease Action-packed Sequel

DC Extended Universe fans are in for a treat as new TV spots for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom offer a sneak peek at Amber Heard’s Mera, though it’s a brief appearance. Released on December 5 via X (formerly Twitter), the spots hint at the intense dynamic between half-brothers Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa) and Orm Marius (Patrick Wilson), gearing up for a face-off with Black Manta (Yahya Abdul Mateen II).

One clip, shared by DC Film News, focuses on the tense alliance between Curry and Marius. Meanwhile, a snippet posted by a Heard fan account showcases a quick glimpse of Mera in a high-octane action scene.

Notably, the marketing for The Lost Kingdom has kept Mera under wraps, aligning with reports of a reduced role for Heard in the sequel. Mera, once a pivotal character as the Queen of Atlantis and Arthur’s wife, appears to have a more fleeting presence in this installment, with previous promos omitting her dialogue.

Amber Heard’s role reduction stems from her tumultuous public image, marked by a highly publicized defamation trial involving her ex-husband, Johnny Depp. This has also taken a financial toll on her net worth!

Despite rumors of her removal, Warner Bros. retained her in the film, cutting two of her scenes in the process. Director James Wan clarified the decision, emphasizing the film’s focus on Arthur and Orm’s “bromance.”

Amid on-set tensions and negative press, Heard remains “honored” to be part of the DCEU, while Wan downplays reported issues.

The Lost Kingdom, closing the current DCEU chapter, faces challenges with test screening walkouts, bad press, and box office struggles of other DCEU movies this year. Despite this, the movie is set to hit theaters on Dec. 22, possibly marking Momoa’s final appearance as Aquaman, with rumors linking him to a recast as Lobo in the revamped DCU.

As the DCEU undergoes changes under DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran, all eyes are on Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom for its upcoming release.
