Meta Platforms introduced Meta Quest+ on Monday, a subscription-based service for its virtual reality (VR) headsets, with the intention of shaping a still-developing but high-investment market.
In a broadcast channel on Instagram, Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg said that the Meta Quest+ subscription will be available starting on Monday for $7.99 per month, or $59.99 per year, for Quest 2, Pro, and soon for Quest 3.
With its $3,499 Vision Pro augmented reality headset, Apple has entered a Meta-dominated market. However, Meta’s most expensive headset costs three times as much as Apple’s.
The arcade adventure game Pixel Ripped 1995 and the action-rhythm game FPS Pistol Whip are the first games offered. Players will have the opportunity to play Mothergunship: Forge and Walkabout Mini Golf in August.
As the daring bets on the metaverse were unsuccessful, Meta reduced the prices of its headsets in March. Meta’s membership administration will separate the organization from PlayStation, which remarkably doesn’t offer VR games through its PlayStation In addition to membership.
According to the website of the social media company, Meta’s flagship VR headset, Meta Quest Pro, is now available for $999.99, down from $1,499.99 at its launch, and Quest 2 is available for $299.99.
